Raf Grassetti

Raf Grassetti is a renaissance man in the NFT world. Raf creates virtual sculptures that are the most visionary working sculptors in the NFT art world today. By making his art digital, he allows the viewer to see his sculpture from all angles.  His work can be seen as a metaphor for creation.

Raf manipulates digital spaces and convinces the viewers that they are physically right in front of his sculptures. When viewers see his artwork, they experience the best setting with the perfect lighting. The sculpture is set against a dark jet background which creates a high contrast and allows the viewers to focus on the subject.

Raf’s approach to technology and the way he is sculpting digitally makes me see what lies just beyond the horizon. The possibilities become even more exciting when Raf digitizes some images from the art history and puts them online so viewers could see the work from their home. He explores extremes of human emotion and he uses the human figure as a vehicle for expression. The way he opens up and fosters a dialogue with the viewers is greatly appreciated by his audience.  He allows the viewers to be drawn into human relationships and emotions.

Not only does Raf present the virtual sculpture but he tells a story. He provides a lot of information in the work yet does not insist upon a fixed meaning. The audience participates and brings their personal experiences and interpretations to the work. He allows the viewer to complete the work through open ended engagement and subjective association. This is usually hard to do when there is a lot of information in the work. His work is full of attractive ideas, not in the least because it seems to invite viewers to bring their own experiences to the work. It is specific in that it depicts a figure, but his work may be interpreted in a myriad of ways.
